Minnesota provides photo identification cards to people who do not have driver’s licenses, but need a document to prove who they are. Currently, there is a nominal fee for such cards, but with new legislation, that fee could be waived to ensure that no legitimate voter would be denied an opportunity to vote.
It is nonsense or pure politics when our Democrat secretary of state equates a photo ID requirement with a poll tax. The turnover of the Legislature gives us an opportunity to do something that most Minnesotans want by passing a photo ID requirement.
Voting is more important than buying a beer; let’s just make sure all voters are who they say they are and present a photo ID to prove it.
Our 5th district congressman , Kieth Ellison (DFL) sponsores a bill to outlaw states from passing bills to require photo I.D. He knows that photo I.D. would favor Republicans.
