A guy in North Minneapolis shoots another guy and the victims family sues the gun maker. Instead they should shoot the shooter. This law is designed to relieve the gun maker of responsibility and deny the trial lawyer easy money.
As with other tort reform legislation the Democrats are beholden to the trial lawyers and nearly unanimously deny it.
